Edo Police Arrest Suspected Killer of Uber Driver from Lagos

Must Read

The police in Edo State have caught a man named John Ochekwu Abraham. He is thought to be part of a very sad incident where an Uber driver named Usman Umaru in Lagos was killed.

This news was shared by the police spokesperson SP Moses Joel Yamu. He talked about it to reporters in Benin City on Sunday.

Yamu said the police started looking into what happened and found out that John and another person, who people call Ahua or Soldier, took Usman’s car using guns. This happened in Lagos on October 11, 2024, and sadly Usman lost his life because of this event.

The police found John in an area called Etsako East, thanks to some police groups who were checking the highways and nearby areas like Okpella.

Catching John happened because police officers were doing their job to check cars and found him during one of their stops.

The police officer explained that when they looked in John’s car, they found some dangerous things. They found a gun that is known as an AK-47 and a magazine that holds the bullets for the gun. It was hidden in a tricky place inside the car, near the engine.

Here’s a bit from what the police shared: “The police in Edo State worked together to find a stolen car and a gun during their highway checks. They also managed to arrest someone involved.”

“While checking, they stopped a silver car, a Toyota Camry, which had the registration number BDG 17 JK.”

“When the police searched the car, they discovered a hidden gun and bullets inside the car, near the engine part.”

“Sadly, the driver called Ahua or Soldier saw what was happening and ran away quickly, so the police missed catching him. But they caught his friend, John Ochekwu Abraham, who stayed in the car.”

“The police learned that these men took the car by using guns in Lagos on October 11, 2024. This event led to the loss of the Uber driver Usman Umaru.”

The police say they are still working very hard to catch the other man who ran away.
