The Edo State Police Command has arrested Osaro Ahuwa for allegedly burning down his ex-wife's house.
A statement issued on Thursday by CSP Moses Joel Yamu, Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, said the arrest followed a distress call from one Osariten Terecy.
The statement said that at around 1:30 am on New Year's Day, Osarinten informed the command that his sister Uyi Tina was sleeping at their residence on Asemota Street, Idunowinna Quarters, Benin City, when the estranged husband went to her house with a barrel of fuel and set the building on fire.
According to police, the woman escaped with burns while the house was set alight with everything inside, including £4,000 and a Lexus RX 330.
“The estranged husband and another accomplice have been arrested and are currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing,” the statement added.
