The leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, shared why everyone was wearing white clothes to an important meeting. It was a way to celebrate the new governor of the state.
The news, reported by DAILY POST, mentioned that the Speaker congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo for winning the governor’s election on September 21, 2024. The Speaker emphasized that the new governor is for everyone in Edo State, not just one political group called the APC.
“I’m really thankful to God for helping us through the election. The election is now over, and I want to congratulate everyone here. Our new governor is for all the people in Edo State, not just for those in the APC,” said Agbebaku. “He will be our leader soon, and that’s why we are wearing white today.”
Agbebaku also prayed for the new governor. He asked God to help him make good decisions and protect him from challenges and wrong advice. The Speaker believes the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is someone who keeps his promises.
“We pray for God to keep away anyone who might give him bad advice or try to stop him from doing good things,” Agbebaku added. “We believe he keeps his promises, and we congratulate him on his win.”
DAILY POST reminded everyone that the House had taken a break starting August 14, 2024, and only came back to work on October 2, 2024, after the special governor election was over.
