Edo Gubernatorial Election: PDP Urges Voters to Avoid Incompetent Candidates

Must Read

As the Edo State governorship election set for September 21, 2024, gets closer, the Asue-Ogie Campaign Management Council asked the people of the state on Sunday not to choose a bad leader.

DAILY POST says that the council shared this message during a press conference in Benin City.

The council’s deputy director-general for media, Olu Martins, spoke to reporters. He responded to a statement by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who said a woman was found with a lot of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in Ovia Federal Constituency.

Oshiomhole, speaking at an APC governorship rally, warned Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, against trying to cheat in the election.

Martins asked the people of Edo not to repeat past mistakes like when former President Goodluck Jonathan lost to former President Muhammadu Buhari. He stressed that the only person who can carry on Governor Obaseki’s good work is Barrister Asue Ighodalo.

He said, “The election is coming soon, and we need to ask the political parties what plans they have.”

Martins added, “We tell Edo people today not to repeat past mistakes when we thought Jonathan was not good, so we picked Buhari.”

He also called on political parties to let their candidates speak for themselves. That way, people can hold the candidate responsible later, he said.

Martins urged the people of Edo to carefully look into the history of the political parties and their candidates before voting.

He said, “We ask Edo people to take their time to know the candidates Asue Ighodalo and Monday Okpebholo.”

Martins continued, “Edo people have a duty today to say you will not control this election.”

He called on his fellow citizens, both in Edo State and abroad, reminding them that Edo State is important to everyone and that they should choose the best candidate.
