INEC Announces PVC Collection Dates for Edo State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set the dates for people in Edo State to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). You can collect your PVCs from August 22, 2024, to September 8, 2024. This is in preparation for the Governorship Election happening on September 21, 2024.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, shared this news on Monday in Abuja during a meeting with other election officials.

Prof. Yakubu emphasized, “Only people who have registered will get their PVCs. We do not give PVCs to anyone else, like proxies.”

He explained, “After our last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo States, we cleaned up the list of new voters. In Edo State, we registered 119,206 new voters. Additionally, 8,847 voters moved their registration to Edo from other states, and 46,171 voters moved within Edo State.”

Prof. Yakubu added, “We have also updated records for 4,808 voters who needed corrections to their names, addresses, or birth dates. We replaced 5,406 damaged or lost PVCs. In total, 184,438 voters in Edo State have been updated in our records and will get their new PVCs.”

“All the PVCs have been printed and sent to our office in Benin City,” he said. “Our Electoral Officers will give out these PVCs to the voters.”

The INEC Chairman also mentioned that a special list with names and photos of these 184,438 voters has been made to make PVC collection easier.

For Ondo State, Prof. Yakubu said, “Right now, we are focusing on Edo State because their election is next month. But soon, we will also announce how voters in Ondo State can collect their PVCs for the upcoming November election.”
