Ebonyi: Labour Party Seeks Backing for National Convention and State Congress

Must Read

The Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi is asking its members for support as they prepare for their National Convention and State Congress to choose new leaders.

This request came from a meeting at Citi-Hub Event Centre in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Saturday. They shared a six-point message with everyone there.

The message was signed by Linus Okorie from the Ebonyi South area, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh from the Ebonyi North area, and Emmanuel I. Nwobo from the Ebonyi Central area. These people are part of the National Transition Committee (NTC) and the organizers of the meeting.

The message said: “The NTC members of the Labour Party, including Chief Fidelis Nwankwo, Rt. Hon. Linus Okorie, and Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, held this big meeting to tell the members in Ebonyi State about the future plans of the Labour Party. These plans include getting new members to sign up.”

“The NTC members also talked about what they learned from reviewing the results of the 2023 elections. They worked with both the National and State Working Committees. From this, the stakeholders made several decisions:

“1. Mr. Peter Obi will continue to be the National Leader of the Party.

“2. Mr. Obi has the skills to help improve Nigeria’s economy.

“3. Stakeholders see the importance of helping the NTC to organize an inclusive State Congress and National Convention for the Labour Party.”

“4. Stakeholders are also asking anyone fighting within the Party to stop. They should work together for the good of the Labour Party and to help improve Nigeria.”

“5. The Labour Party in Ebonyi State will work hard to recruit and register 400,000 new members at the right time.”

“Finally, in a motion brought up by Chief Jerry Obasi, a former leader in another party and seconded by Hon. Sylvester Nwankwo, a former House of Assembly member, the stakeholders agreed that Engr. (Chief) Fidelis Nwankwo will be the Leader of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State.”
