The Road Traffic Services Directorate (DRTS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a severe warning to motorists against the purchase of promotions vehicles numbers that operate in Abuja.
The warning is produced in the middle of a shortage of numerical plates reported in the FCT, which the DRT attributed to irregular and insufficient supply of the plant of the national vehicle's national identification scheme (Nvis). However, the Directorate assured residents that efforts are being made to address scarcity.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the director of DRTS, Dr. Abdulateef Bello, gave alarm for the activities of the scammers who pass by direction officials to defraud the owners of offsembled vehicles.
“We want to get the attention of the car audience to the activities of the scammers who go through DRTS officials in the attempt to take advantage of the situation to exploit vehicle owners,” reads the statement.
Dr. Bello emphasized that DRTS dissociates all illegal treatment and warned the public that does not get involved with anyone who claims to offer numbers of numbers outside the official self -service portal in the address in https://selfservice.fctevreg.com.
In addition, he pointed out that, in line with the commitment of the management to transparency, the approved costs for the numbers and related services are publicly listed on the DRTS website and other official communication channels.

“Therefore, the address encourages the public to stay and insist on stipulated prices,” he said.
To collect fraudulent practices, DRTS revealed that they are working closely with security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in the supplantation and illegal sales of numbers.
The public members have been urged to inform any suspicious activity or individuals to the DRTS management.
“DRTS remains firm in its commitment to deliver transparent, efficient and responsible services to the car audience,” added Dr. Bello.
