Driver in the police network for alleged kidnapping of passengers

The agents of the Onipanu Division of the State Police Command Ogun arrested a 30 -year -old driver identified as Olayemi Yusuf, for allegedly kidnapping a passenger.

It was said that the suspect, who is the driver of the indrive car rental services, had deviated from the planned route and subsequently dominated the victim, restricting his hands with two plastic wire clips.

Confirming his arrest on Tuesday, police spokesman Omolola Odutola told Daily Post that the incident occurred around 3 pm on Monday.

Odutola declared that the 22 -year -old passenger identified as Paz, had reserved the online trip from Lekki, Lagos, to Freedom Way, Lekki.

However, during the trip, the driver who changed the planned route said that his navigation system did not work badly.

She said: “On March 24, 2025, at approximately 1500, the officers received information about a suspicious vehicle throughout Ilogbo Road, Ojuore, a state of Ogun. A rapid police response led to the rescue of the victim, Counterupis Peace 'F' (22 years).

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim reserved a trip through an online car of Lekki, Lagos, for Freedom Way, Lekki. However, during the trip, the driver said that his navigation system did not work badly and deviated from the planned route.

He later surpassed the victim and held his hands with two plastic clips.
Odutola added that when he arrived at the omowo filling station along Ilogbo Road, Ota, the victim called the alarm, calling the attention of passersby, who intervened and attacked the suspect before police officers arrived at the scene.

He pointed out that the suspect is currently in police custody while an investigation began.

“Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the police station, and the suspect received medical attention due to injuries suffered by the attack of the mafia,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo, urged public members to avoid laws in their own hands, rather inform suspicious activities to the authorities for proper investigation and legal actions.
