Driver and two others injured in accident on Sagamu-Benin highway

A truck driver and two of his assistants were injured and hospitalized following a road accident that occurred on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, Ijebu Ife.

The long truck, registered as BBJ-542XAF, was transporting gasoline when the incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. on Sunday.

Confirming the incident to Newslodge, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the injured victims were immediately rushed to Ireayo Hospital for treatment.

Odutola stated that the Ijebu-Ode fire station was contacted and one of its vehicles is at the scene for safety measures.

He maintained that efforts are being made to recover the truck and that the motor traffic division is on site to maintain a smooth flow of traffic.

Odutola, however, added: “Some impatient travelers have started using alternative routes, preventing other vehicles from having their right of way.”
