The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has asked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo not to punish other political parties in Kogi State or see them as enemies. These parties questioned his win in the November 11, 2023, governorship election in court.
The Kogi State Chairman of CNPP, Comrade Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, made this request in a statement on Saturday. He spoke after the Supreme Court confirmed that Ododo was the rightful winner of the governorship election.
Abdullahi explained that the current government should now focus on working together with all groups for the good of Kogi State.
He pointed out that it would be a big mistake for Ododo to start going after the opposition parties just because they challenged his win in court.
“Governor Ododo should try and include everyone,” said Abdullahi. “He should not punish or see those who took him to court over the November 11 governorship victory as enemies of Kogi State.”
“Everyone, no matter their political party, should now be included in the plans of this government since the court case is over,” he added.
While congratulating Ododo on his win, the CNPP Chairman in Kogi State also criticized the attack by some political supporters at the Supreme Court in Abuja. He said such actions were not right in a democracy.
