Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator representing Abia South, Enyi Abaribe, among others, congratulated residents of Abia on the occasion of the Christmas celebration and urged them to take into account spending as a result of economic difficulties.

In his Christmas Day message, Otti noted: “We have carefully implemented appropriate safety measures to ensure everyone's safety. Beyond the measures taken to ensure the safety of lives and property, we have also recorded some significant progress in expanding our governance footprint to all communities in the state through road infrastructure projects and strategic development initiatives in health, education, business support and social protection. .

“You can rest assured that we will continue to work for you with sincerity and devotion because this is our homeland and there can be no greater vocation than working to create new possibilities for ourselves and our children.

“Let me encourage all of us to be cautious and modest in everything we do this season. Avoid excessive consumption, especially of alcoholic beverages, and stay away from hard drugs and dangerous substances completely. When using the road, be aware of other road users. Let us collectively commit to safety by refraining from overdoing our celebrations.

“Our security officers, medical personnel, public service officials and those involved in emergency response services deserve our collective gratitude on a special day like this.

“To those who have suffered various forms of setbacks throughout the year and are currently grieving the loss of loved ones, to those who are confined to a hospital bed, and to others who cannot fully celebrate due to one of life's many emergencies, Let me extend to you our collective message of comfort and love this holiday season.

“As members of the broader human community, we share your pain and pray for God's peace and comfort in your hearts today and always. We also remember on this memorable day our brothers and sisters who have since returned to their Maker. We pray for the peaceful repose of their souls and strength for those they left behind.”

In their messages to their constituents, Abia residents and Nigerians, Kalu and Abaribe urged citizens to imbibe the Christmas spirit represented by the birth of Jesus Christ and called for restraint in spending to enable them meet the financial demands of January.

Others including former senators representing Abia Central, Theodore Ahamefule Orji and Nkechi Nworgu called for peace and prayed to God for his blessings.
