Deadpool & Wolverine Surpasses N700 Million at Nigerian Box Office

The movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” is having a great time in Nigeria! It has made more than N700 million after being shown in cinemas for over two months.

This is super special because only a few movies have ever made this much money in English-speaking West Africa. So far, the movie has made a total of N700,213,987, and more than 142,000 people have watched it, according to the Nigeria box office.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is now part of a special club of big movies in Nigeria!

The movie that made the most money is called “A Tribe Called Judah” by Funke Akindele, and it made N1.407 billion. Next is “Wakanda Forever,” collecting N1.040 billion. In third place is the first “Black Panther” making N818.1 million, and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is in fourth with N750.2 million.

Since it came out on July 26, 2024, “Deadpool & Wolverine” has been doing really well in Nigeria. On the first day, it earned N41.6 million from ticket sales, not counting special Wednesday and Thursday shows.

People thought it would make about N130 million in its first weekend, but it actually made N144.1 million from July 26 to July 28, 2024, which is even more than expected!

Things to Remember 

The movie cost $200 million to make and another $100 million to tell everyone about it. It’s being talked about like other popular Marvel movies, like “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

  • People in Nigeria love superhero movies, and Marvel movies are really popular around the world.
  • One report said “Deadpool & Wolverine” made N299 million just a week after hitting N165 million.
  • The movie did really well right from the start by making N144.1 million over its opening weekend, breaking records for future movies in Nigeria.
  • At first, it was thought the movie would make N115 million in its first weekend, but by the end of Saturday, it had already made N93.2 million, exceeding those expectations!
  • This success means the movie is one of the top earners in Nigeria and is really important for cinemas there.
