Hollywood Marvel Studios’ latest movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, is a huge hit in Nigeria. It made a whopping N299 million in just under two weeks.

On the first day alone, the movie made N41.6 million in Nigerian cinemas. Then, on Saturday, it made another N51.6 million, making a total of N93.2 million by the end of the day. The experts thought the movie would make around N115 million by the end of the first weekend, but it did even better, earning N144.1 million, which sets a new record.
A Little Background
Things got tricky for the movie because of nation-wide protests that started on August 1. The protests were part of the #EndBadGovernance movement, and because of them, many cinemas had to close temporarily. Imperial Cinemas even announced, “Please be informed that the cinema will not be operational tomorrow(Aug 1) due to the upcoming nationwide protest. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused. We shall communicate with you when it is safe to reopen.”
Despite these challenges, Deadpool & Wolverine still managed to make N13 million on Friday, August 2, 2024. This was a big drop from the previous Friday, but it shows the movie has strong fans who love it.
