Al Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he might go back to playing in the Champions League.
Ronaldo talked about this while helping with this season’s league phase draw on Thursday.
The former player from Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus received an award because he has scored the most goals in Champions League history, with a total of 140 goals.
When UEFA president, Aleksander Čeferin, joked about Ronaldo not playing in the Champions League anymore, Ronaldo replied: “I play in the Asian [Champions] League, don’t forget that.”
He added, “For me, it is a pleasure to be here. Thank you for this amazing award; it means a lot to me.
“As you know, the Champions League is the highest level in football. I had the chance to play there many times, and that record speaks for itself. But more importantly, it was a great joy to compete in that tournament. It is our motivation.
“In football, you never know what will happen next. Let’s see what the future brings.”
