Court Rules That Order Halting PDP’s Congresses in Abia Remains in Effect

Must Read

The Abia State High Court in Bende, led by Justice C.U. Okoroafor, has given a reminder to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The court had earlier told the PDP not to hold meetings to choose leaders in Abia State, and this order is still in place. The PDP cannot go against this decision yet.

This court order was made on October 25 as part of a legal case (marked HB/3/2024) started by three people: Francis Etuzu, Chidindu Kalu Kalu, and Enyinnaya Ogbu.

The court also said that messages about disobeying this order should be given to certain people in the PDP. These people are Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who is the PDP National Secretary, Alwell Asiforo Okere, who leads the temporary committee in Abia, and Kenneth Madubuike, the secretary of that committee.

The people being addressed in the court case are the PDP as a whole, along with the National Chairman, and other officials like the Financial Secretary, Organizing Secretary, and Legal Adviser.

The court’s order said: “The Claimants/Applicants are allowed to give notices (Forms 48, 49) to the Defendants for not following the court’s rules. This can be done by giving the notices to an adult at the PDP Abia Office on Onyerobi Close, or by posting them there, or even sending them through WhatsApp.”

The court reminded everyone that the earlier order from July 23, 2024, is still valid until the main issue is finally resolved.

Let’s remember that on July 23, the court told PDP not to hold an election meeting at their ward, which was planned for July 27. The court also said that the group led by Okere should not continue in their roles for now.

The order from July 23 stopped PDP from doing or planning any congress meetings until a closer look at the case is done.
