In Ondo State, there was a serious incident involving two students. A 15-year-old girl from Anglican Grammar School in Arigidi Akoko is in trouble for allegedly hurting her 17-year-old friend, Habib Salau, very badly, using a knife.
A judge, named Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi, decided that the girl should stay in a special home for young people in Akure while we wait for more information from important legal experts (people who know all about the law).
The judge did not ask the girl to explain her side yet.
This student is in court because she’s accused of using a knife on Habib Salau after school. They got into a fight, and sadly, Habib did not survive.
The case against her includes two serious charges: working together with someone else to do something really wrong, and a charge called murder.
The person who tells the judge what happened (called the Prosecutor and named Josephine Awana) said that the girl and another person (who hasn’t been found yet) planned something bad on October 3, in the afternoon around 3:30, at a place called Imo in Arigidi Akoko.
Josephine Awana said the girl hurt Habib with the knife during the fight. The prosecutor shared that the fight happened because the girl thought Habib did something wrong to her while they were going home.
The girl said that someone gave her the knife and told her to use it on Habib’s neck.
The law in Ondo State says that what the girl and her friend (who has not been caught) are accused of doing breaks some important rules, especially ones about harming others.
