Court Orders Detention of Rivers Monarch in Cybercrime Case

Must Read

In Port Harcourt, a Federal High Court has sent His Royal Highness, Eze Cyprian Amadi-Worenwu, to jail because of a cybercrime charge.

The charge says that on March 28, 2023, Eze Amadi-Worenwu sent a scary message to a phone number belonging to Sunday Gift-Chinenem. This message made retired Judge Adolphus Enebeli very scared for his life.

The message also said that Eze Amadi-Worenwu knew where Judge Enebeli’s son worked and that the judge would not live long enough to enjoy his retirement.

It is claimed that Eze Amadi-Worenwu threatened to harm the retired judge because the judge did not rule in his favor in a case involving another person named Christopher Wonodi on March 20, 2023.

This action breaks Section 24 (1) of the 2015 Cybercrime Act.

According to DAILY POST, Eze Amadi-Worenwu said he is not guilty.

The judge, Justice Emmanuel Obele, did not accept a quick request for bail from the defense lawyer, A.S. Amadi. This request was opposed by the prosecution lawyer, ASP Welter Ogwuikpile.

Justice Obele has set the next court date for July 29, 2024, to talk about bail and said that Eze Amadi-Worenwu should stay in the Port Harcourt jail until then.

Police from the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Eze Amadi-Worenwu after he did not respond to their previous requests about his threats to Judge Enebeli and his family.
