Court Extends Injunction Preventing PDP from Holding Congresses in Nasarawa

Must Read

In a place called Doma, where important decisions are made, something important happened. This place is in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. There is a group called the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP for short. They wanted to have a big meeting, but the judges said, “No, you can’t do that right now.”

Why, you ask? Well, on September 27, 2024, some folks from the PDP, about 16 of them, said, “Hey, we don’t think this meeting should happen.” A man named Senator Mohammed Ogoshi-Onawo was one of those people. He and his friends went to the court to explain their worries.

These 16 people were upset with their party, the PDP. They were also upset with a man called Mr. Francis Orogu. He is the leader of the PDP in their state. They were also not happy with the group of people who help run the PDP there.

A judge named Justice Abdullahi Shams-Shammah listened carefully to what everyone had to say. He wanted to make sure everything was fair. After hearing everyone’s side, he decided: “Okay, let’s not have this meeting now. Let’s wait a bit.” He decided they should talk more about this problem on October 8, 2024.

The person speaking for the 16 unhappy people, a very smart lawyer named Ishaka Mudi-Diko, asked the judge, “Can we keep things the same until you make a final choice?” The judge agreed with him, so the meeting still can’t happen now.
