Alexi Lalas Criticizes 2024 Copa America Final Organizers Over Shakira’s Concert
Former American football player, Alexi Lalas, is upset with the people who organized the 2024 Copa America final because of Shakira’s music concert.
Shakira was supposed to get the crowd excited for the second half of the final match between Argentina and Colombia at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
Lalas said that Shakira wasn’t given the help she needed to do a great job during her performance.
On his podcast, Alexi Lalas’ State of the Union, he said, “I have nothing against Shakira; she seems to be a big star. Her performance wasn’t something special or memorable.
“There were a couple of odd things. First, she came out alone, and everyone was wondering, ‘Where are the backup dancers?’
“At first, it didn’t look right without the backup dancers, but they showed up later. That was a bit strange.
“My main issue is with the lighting team. I don’t know who was in charge, but they made mistakes.
“The lights on her legs made weird shadows, and it looked like she had fish scales. No singer wants that. They didn’t treat her well. This was a bad call.
“They should have set up the lighting correctly. By not doing so, they disrespected the artist.”
