Conflict Erupts in Delta Community as Expelled Students Face Off with Police

Must Read

There was a big fight between students and police at Steel Secondary School in Ovwian, which is in the Udu area of Delta State. This happened on Wednesday, October 3, 2024, and it made the people living nearby very worried.

The problem started because the school asked the police to come and talk to students about some bad things they were doing that messed up the school day.

A man called CSP Aliyu Shaba, who is the boss at the Ovwian Police Station, sent his police officers to the school quickly to make things calm again. But instead of getting better, the situation got out of hand, with students and police on opposite sides. The students, who were already upset because they had been kicked out of school (or “rusticated”), did not like that the police were there.

People in the school say it may not be safe for the school to open on Thursday, October 4, 2024.

When someone asked a police officer for a comment, SP Bright Edafe, who speaks for the police, sent back a message saying, “No problem there, please.”
