The famous actor and comedian, Brian Murphy, known for his roles in the classic comedies of the 1970s, Man on the house and George and Mildred, died at the age of 92.

A life dedicated to entertainment

Murphy breathed Sunday morning at his residence in Kent, with his devoted 35 -year -old wife by his side. Expressing his pain, Regan declared: “I was lucky to have found my soulmate in my life. Brian whom I will love forever! “

His lifelong agent and friend, Thomas Bowington, described Murphy as a “really cheerful man with a good heart.”

Murphy first jumped to fame portraying the peculiar owner George Roper in the man on the house, starring next to the late Yootha Joyce. The program, which debuted in 1973, was considered unconventional for its time, since it presented a story that revolved around two single women who cohabit with a man.

After their conclusion in 1976, Murphy and Joyce repeated their roles in the Spin-Off, George and Mildred series, which remained in the air for five seasons until 1979.

Beyond those roles, Murphy also gained recognition for portraying Alvin Smedley in the summer wine.

An illustrious film and theater

Born on Wight Island, Murphy was an estimated member of the theater workshop, founded by the legendary Joan Littlewood. Before achieving fame on television, he built his career as a versatile stage actor, which later appeared in television dramas such as Z-Cars.

In 1993, he occupied the center of the stage in the first significant theatrical adaptation of HG Wells science fiction masterpiece, The Invisible Man.

A legacy that lives

Even in later years, Murphy remained active in the entertainment industry, making appearances in successful television series, including Holby City of BBC and Benidorm of ITV.

His beloved wife and two children survive, leaving behind a rich legacy of work that continues to captivate the public.
