The police in Osun State said they saved two people from a building that fell down in Sabo, an area in the state’s capital, Osogbo.

The police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said on Monday that security teams found only two people stuck under the building ruins, which had one story.

On Sunday morning, July 14, 2024, a one-story building fell in the Sabo area of Osogbo. This was reported by DAILY POST.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, warned builders and residents not to make houses without the right building plans.

At first, they were not sure how many people were trapped. The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Adeleke Kehinde, said five people were trapped.

Adeleke Kehinde said, “The building fell around 07:30 today, Sunday, July 14, 2024, trapping 5 people.

“Two people have been saved so far, three others are still under the building parts that need a crane to lift.”

Adeleke also said they had warned on June 10 that the building was dangerous because bad people were using it as a hiding place.

She added, “We said the building was very bad, and suggested it should be cleaned up by a task force and environmental team.”

However, the police said out of the two people they saved, one had visible injuries, while the other was not harmed.

Opalola said, “The Osun State government and the Amotekun team, led by Asiwaju, helped in rescuing the victims from the fallen building at Sabo in Osogbo today.

“In the end, only two people were found trapped and rescued. One person had no visible injury, while the other, who was hurt, is recovering in the hospital.”
