Coalition Criticizes Kano Local Government Elections as ‘Comedy Gone Too Far’ Despite Court Order

Must Read

The National Patriotic Coalition (NPC) is very unhappy about the recent local government elections in Kano State. They said the elections were not fair and didn’t follow the rules of democracy.

According to the DAILY POST, even though a court said that the candidates from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) shouldn’t take part in the election, the election still went on, and Governor Abba Yusuf ignored the court’s order.

Kunle Solomon from the NPC said in a statement that the results of the election were not real. The NNPP won all the 44 chairmanship seats and 484 councillorship positions, but the NPC doesn’t believe the results are true.

Solomon said the whole election process was like a bad joke. He even called it a “kangaroo election” because it seemed like children were allowed to vote, which should not happen.

The NPC was upset that Governor Yusuf decided to have the elections anyway. They believe he didn’t know how to organize a proper election.

In their statement, the NPC said the Kano elections were fake and didn’t respect democracy. They pointed out that Governor Yusuf did not follow the law, which was a big problem. By ignoring the court’s decision, he showed disrespect for the law. The law says that everyone must listen to what the courts decide.

The NPC also claimed that there were problems with the voting materials. Either they weren’t printed properly, or young kids were involved in voting, which shouldn’t happen.

The NPC said this situation was wrong and it hurts democracy. They believe the people of Kano deserve elections that show what they really want, not ones that make Nigeria look bad in front of the world.

The NPC asked the people in charge to look into these issues and fix them. They said they support the people of Kano in wanting real democracy.

Solomon said Governor Yusuf is attacking democratic values by not listening to the court. Not following the rules of the law is very dangerous. They want him to admit his mistakes, respect the law, and make sure future elections are honest and show the true choice of the people.
