The group called the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) says they might not join the local government elections planned for October 19, 2024, in Kogi State. This means they are thinking about not taking part.
The leader of CNPP in Kogi State, named Comrade Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, told reporters about this decision on Thursday. He shared his thoughts in a message.
Abdullahi said he doesn’t trust the group in charge of the election, called the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC). He says this group is not working with everyone they should before the elections.
The CNPP leader said the way the election is being prepared is not clear or open. People don’t get to see everything that’s happening with the plans.
Abdullahi explained, “It’s not okay for KOSIEC to plan things for the election without inviting political parties. We don’t even know how they plan to run the election,” He feels that only special people are allowed to join in, and it looks like a secret group is controlling everything.
He believes that KOSIEC is not being fair or neutral like they should be. Instead, they seem to be favoring the APC, letting them decide who gets to be in power.
Abdullahi wonders how long this unfairness will go on. He says Nigeria, and Kogi State are not places where anything goes without rules.
According to Abdullahi, not speaking up now could be bad for everyone in the future. As people who care, they need to make sure wrong actions don’t continue. Abdullahi believes that Nigeria is trying to make its political system better, and that must continue.
Based on all this, Abdullahi says the CNPP might decide not to join the elections in Kogi State because they don’t trust the people running it. He wants the whole world to know about this problem.
