Rapper Cardi B has now sold more music than her rival, Nicki Minaj, in the United States.
Cardi B has broken a record. She is now the most successful female rapper in the US when it comes to selling music. She passed Nicki Minaj in the number of credited units sold.
According to the official website of the Recording Industry of America, RIA, Cardi B has sold 107 million units. Nicki Minaj has sold 106 million units.
Nicki Minaj has sold a lot of songs too. But many of her popular songs were collaborations, and they weren’t counted as her own on the RIA website.
In other news, Alicia Keys has a big achievement too. Her song with JAY-Z from 2009, ‘Empire State of Mind,’ has sold 10 million units in the US. This made her song go Diamond for the first time ever.
JAY-Z is familiar with having Diamond hits. This is his third Diamond song, after ‘N****s In Paris’ with Kanye West and ‘Umbrella’ with Rihanna.
Across the ocean, Eminem has been given a special award. He received the Brit Billion Award for being the best-selling American rapper in the UK, with 7 billion streams.
