Canadian Region Introduces New Permanent Residency System for Skilled Workers

On September 30th, 2024, Alberta, a region in Canada, will start a new system to help people who want to live and work there permanently.

Understanding the EOI Submission Process 

According to INC, applicants will enter their information into the AAIP’s online system themselves.

• Points Grid: Each piece of information you add gives you points, with a total score out of 100. How much you score depends on your education, language, and work experience.
• Draw Schedule: The first draws for selecting applicants will start in mid-to-late October 2024, so people have time to get ready.

• Education: You can earn up to 22 points based on your education level. A PhD earns 12 points, bachelor’s degrees and diplomas get 7, and studying in Alberta gives an extra 10 points.
• Language Proficiency: A minimum of CLB 4 (Canadian Language Benchmark) in English or NCLC 4 in French is required. You can earn up to 13 points for higher language skills.
• Work Experience: You can score up to 21 points for your work experience.
• Family Connections: If you have close family members in Alberta, you can get up to 8 points.
• Economic Factors: A job offer in Alberta, especially in high-demand sectors, can give you up to 31 points.
• Age (maximum 5 points):

Ages 21 to 34 get 5 points, while other age groups get fewer points.
