The big group that handles football around the world, known as FIFA, has a member named Amaju Pinnick. He shared some news about an important decision that’s coming very soon – today or tomorrow! There’s going to be an announcement about a football game that didn’t go as planned. This was a game between Nigeria’s team, called the Super Eagles, and the team from Libya. It’s part of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifications.
When the Super Eagles traveled to play in this game, something unexpected happened. They were stuck at an airport called Al Abaq Airport for a long time and couldn’t leave. Because of this problem, they decided not to play the game and came back home to Nigeria instead.
Pinnick explained that this issue was talked about a lot during a meeting this week with the leaders of CAF, the group that oversees African football. This meeting was very important because they wanted to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.
During a chat with Arise Television, Pinnick said, “CAF is quite concerned about this. The president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, really cares about fairness and doing what’s right for all of Africa.”
He also added that during their meeting, they spent a lot of time discussing this problem. They realized it was really serious because the Super Eagles could have been in danger. Pinnick assures that CAF is looking at every part of this issue very closely. They are not ignoring any details to make sure that everyone is safe and treated fairly in future games.
