Rodri won this award even though many people thought someone else would win. Three great players from a team called Real Madrid, named Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal, were also hoping to win. But in the end, Rodri was the winner.
Rodri did a great job because he helped his team, Manchester City, win the Premier League. He also helped his home country win in games called the Euros.
It was surprising when Rodri won. Many thought Vinicius Junior would get the award. But then something unexpected happened. Vinicius Junior found out he did not win after all.
When Real Madrid heard about this, they were not happy. They decided not to go to the party where the awards were given. Even though they did not attend, Real Madrid was still named the best club, and Carlo Ancelotti won the award for being the best coach.
