BREAKING: ADC Representative Defects to APC; Minority Caucus Reacts

Must Read

Salman Idris, who is a lawmaker for the Ijumu/Kabba-Bunu Federal area in Kogi State, has left his old party, the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC). He now joined the ruling party, which is the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Idris shared this news in a letter. This letter was read out loud by the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen.

In his letter, Idris explained why he moved to the new party. He said there were many problems happening within the ADC party at the national level. So, he decided it was best for him to leave.

But not everyone was okay with Idris’s decision. The Minority Whip, Ali Isa, pointed out a rule from the 1999 Constitution. He said because Idris switched parties, his seat should be empty now. He asked the Speaker to make Idris give up his seat.

However, the Speaker, Abbas, did not agree with this request and dismissed it.
