Borno Flood: Escaped Convict Recaptured by Police

Must Read

In Borno State, the police have caught a 24-year-old man named Auwalu Aminu. People also call him Auwalu Kirkir.

Auwalu escaped from prison where he was serving time because he and others were involved in a crime called conspiracy and theft. This means they were planning and stealing things that didn’t belong to them.

One day, the prison he was in had a big problem. Heavy rain caused a bad flood, and part of the prison’s fence fell down. This let Auwalu and some others escape from the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri.

ASP Nahum Daso, a spokesperson for the police, shared some news on Wednesday. He said that the police got news from someone who saw Auwalu in a place called Banki town. This news helped the police act quickly. They sent a team from the Bama Area Command and Banki Divisional Headquarters to find him.

On October 16, the police team found Auwalu and took him back into custody. This means they caught him and he is with the police now.

The police spokesperson, known as PPRO, said that Auwalu will be checked and then sent back to the prison service, which is called the Nigeria Correctional Service. They will decide what happens to him next.

The big boss of the police, Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Lawal-Yusufu, wants everyone to be safe. He asked people to tell the police if they see anything suspicious or know about any escaped prisoners.
