Fire Destroys Churches and Furniture Shop in Ibadan

On Tuesday, a big fire burned down two churches and a furniture shop in the Felele area of Ibadan, Oyo State. The fire destroyed things worth a lot of money.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. People living nearby praised the firefighters, who stopped the fire from spreading more.

Yemi Akinyinka, the boss of Fire Services in Oyo State, said the fire happened at Number 51, Debo Plaza, across from Lam Adesina Junction, Felele, Ibadan.

He said it affected two churches, the Redeemed Christian Church of God and a New Covenant parish, as well as a furniture shop.

“The firefighters came quickly and stopped the fire from spreading to other buildings,” Akinyinka said.

Akinyinka explained that the fire mainly burned plastic chairs and PVC materials used for ceiling decorations.

A local resident, Mrs. Dauda Ireoluwa, mentioned that they still don’t know what started the fire.

“When we got distress calls, we all rushed out,” she said.
