The Benue State High Court has made a ruling to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) from removing Austin Agada as the leader of the State Executive Committee.
This decision comes because of growing disagreements and political trouble between Agada and the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Governor Alia has created his own group within the APC and has put Benjamin Omakolo, the State Welfare Officer, in charge as the acting chairman. This has been seen as a challenge to Agada’s leadership.
Agada didn’t want to lose his position, so he went to court to make sure he could finish his four-year term without being removed early.
Justice Theresa Igoche decided in Agada’s favor. She ordered that the national leaders of APC, along with their agents and representatives, should not remove or replace Agada and other key members of the Benue State Working Committee.
This court order will last until Agada’s term is over or until the main dispute is solved.
According to DAILY POST, the APC in Benue State has faced lots of internal problems, especially since the new Benue State House of Assembly started working.
The situation became worse when Aondouna Dajoh was chosen as Speaker instead of Becky Orpin, who is also an APC member. This election has further divided the party and made the leadership crisis even worse.
