There are big problems in the Benue State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This is because some leaders, led by Augustine Agada, have taken the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to court. They say Ganduje did not follow the rules.
DAILY POST says that on Wednesday, a Benue State High Court told the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) that they cannot remove the State Working Committee right now. Despite this, on the same day, the leaders of APC decided to ignore the court and removed Agada’s team from their positions.
Because of this, Agada and eight other people sued Ganduje on Thursday. They told the court to force Ganduje and the NWC to let them stay in their jobs until their four-year term ends.
In the court, Agada’s lawyer, M.T. Aiyebo, said that the Ganduje-led NWC was given the court order on Wednesday around 4:00 p.m. He also said this order was given to the National Legal Adviser at 4:02 p.m. on the same day at the APC’s main office.
Agada was shocked to hear that on Wednesday evening, around 6:00 p.m., Ganduje and the NWC had a meeting. In that meeting, they removed Agada’s team and set up a new caretaker committee, not following the court order.
Agada’s team is now asking the court to punish Ganduje and the NWC for not obeying the earlier decision made by the court.
