The Benue State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the reported disbanding of its State Working Committee (SWC) is against the law.
This information came from the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihomum, in a statement made on Thursday.
Mr. Ihomum said, “We have to respond to the news that the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party, the APC, disbanded the Benue State Working Committee on August 21, 2024.”
He continued, “We want to tell our APC members in Benue State to ignore this news. The disbanding is illegal, wrong, and not allowed because a court order from Judge T.A. Igoche of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi, says the National Working Committee or any part of the APC cannot remove or replace the Benue State Working Committee until its four-year term is finished, or the court makes another decision.”
Mr. Ihomum added, “It is not lawful for the National Working Committee to disband a legally elected State Working Committee, especially when there is a valid court order stopping them. This action will not succeed!”
“We ask all our party members to not listen to the news about the disbanding. The NWC and NEC must follow the court’s order,” said Ihomum.
He also reminded the party members that the Local Government Primary Election, scheduled for Saturday, August 24, will happen as planned.
