The Bauchi Police Command recently caught a 30-year-old man for killing a 60-year-old woman in Yelwa Village, Bauchi.
The police found the man by following his footprints from where the crime happened and found the weapon he used.
According to a statement on Monday from SP Ahmed Wakil, the police got a report about a serious incident on July 7, 2024.
Aliyu Yunusa, a 40-year-old from Yelwa Village, said that someone broke into his mother’s house and hurt her with a dangerous weapon.
The victim was Safiya Yunusa, a 60-year-old woman, who got very bad head injuries.
As soon as the police heard about this, a team led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) went to the scene and took her to Toro General Hospital for medical care.
Sadly, the doctor said she had died, and after a check-up, her body was given to her family for burial.
With help from local vigilante groups and Fulani leaders, they caught one suspect, Adamu Alhassan, a 30-year-old man.
They followed his footprints from the scene. They also found the weapon used in the crime.
SP Wakil said the suspect will be sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation and court process, as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed.
