The journalists who work in the state of Bauchi have been accused of the need to promote sexual reproductive health issues in the state amplifying the messages, educating and informing, as well as an inspiring action.
The position took place on Wednesday during a one -day participation to promote sexual reproductive health in the state of Bauchi with the subject: “amplify the message, educate, inform and inspire actions on sexual and reproductive health”, held in the Conference Room of the State of Bauchi Nuj.
It was organized by Women, Child, Youths Health and Education Initiative (WCy) and Leadtots Development Initiative, in association with the financing of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through International Nigeria Plan.
The facilitator of the program, Kamal Bello, explained that the objective of the project is to improve access to sexual education and reproductive health for adolescent girls, young women and vulnerable groups in the state of Bauchi.
He also highlighted some activities of the Leadtots Development Initiative, which include the strengthening of sick bays in schools, providing pads for formal and non -formal schools, and establishing disposable pad incubation centers in the three senatorial areas of the state of Bauchi.
Others are strengthening learning centers for pregnant adolescents and young women, free medical services for homeless adolescents, among many others.
Kamal Bello, however, praised the state government for considering the Law of Violence against Persons of Prohibition (VAPP) and the Child Protection Law.
Speaking above, the executive director, the WCY/Leadtots Development Initiative, Nicholas Oshojah AFeso, said that the media commitment was aimed at bringing lasting solutions to the problems that affect adolescents to sexual and reproductive health in schools and communities.
He pointed out that the media play a fundamental role in the configuration of public perception and influence political decisions, and added that without the media they cannot achieve the desired objectives.
In his goodwill, the state president of NUJ, Comrade Umar Sa'idu, appreciated the Leadtots Development Initiative for collaboration and assured that Bauchi Nuj is ready to work in synergy by promoting significant ideas of the organization for the benefit of state people.
On his own, the president of Nawoj, Rashida Yusuf, emphasized the importance of education on the health of sexual reproduction between adolescents and young women who are vulnerable members of society.
She assured that its members would include the project in their programs to support the movement and have a healthy environment.
Also speaking, the executive director of journalists for the Health and Public Development Initiative (J4PD), Elizabeth Kah, expressed the preparation of her OSC to associate and collaborate with any organization that goes out to promote public health.
The Wash Media representative also assured that the group members would provide their professional support to the success of the program.
At the end of the workshop, a media work group was formed and opened.
