Bangladesh Floods: 13 Dead, 4.5 Million Affected

At least 13 people have died, and 4.5 million others are facing big problems because of bad floods in Bangladesh. This news came out on Friday from the disaster management and relief ministry.

Heavy rains caused the floods, which have covered many parts of the country with water. This is a tough time for the new government because they already had political problems for weeks.

Bangladesh is in South Asia and has 170 million people. It has many rivers and often has floods, which makes it one of the places most affected by climate change, says the Global Climate Risk Index.

The government report said that nearly 190,000 people have moved to emergency shelters. Floods have hit 11 out of the 64 districts in the country.

The Feni district, around 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the big port city of Chittagong, is in very bad shape due to the floods.

“It’s a really bad situation here,” said Zahed Hossain Bhuiya, a 35-year-old rescue volunteer in Feni. “We are trying to help as many people as we can.”
