There were some very sad happenings on a road between Bangi and Kotonkoro in Niger state where some bad people, known as bandits, hurt others. These bandits ended the lives of three people early on a Sunday morning when the clock showed 9:00 am.

The bandits stopped cars on the road and started shooting at them. One of the cars was driven by a person named Alhaji Shehu Kotonkoro. In his car, three people got hurt and died. They were his driver, a little girl, and a person named Alhaji Ibrahim who were on their way to the market.

This sad event happened not too far from a small village called Kotonkoro, about 5 kilometers away. After this, the bandits also took away two farmers who were working on their rice farm. The farmers had to leave their work as it was not safe anymore.

Because of this danger, students in the area were told to go back home to stay safe.

The leader of the Mariga local government, Alhaji Abbas Musa Kasuwa-Garba, confirmed that indeed, three people lost their lives. He felt very sorry for the families who lost their loved ones.

He explained that the frequent bandit attacks happen due to the nearby borders that Mariga shares with other states like Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna. He also shared that these bandits come from a place called Birnin Gwari in Kaduna, cause trouble, and then go back to where they hide outside the state.
