Recently, there have been many scary ritual killings in Nigeria. The Nigeria Police are asking for help from kings and community leaders to stop these terrible acts.
The police said they needed to work together with the community to stop the bad people doing ‘Badoo rituals’ in Ikorodu, Lagos State. They believe if kings and local leaders help the police, they can end the killings pretending to be rituals.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer, shared this message on his verified X.com handle on Thursday. He said that traditional leaders and community members should get involved to stop these ritual killings.
He was very worried about the high number of ritual killings and said that people need to work together and share useful information with the police.
Adejobi mentioned how they successfully worked with local leaders to stop the Badoo rituals in Ikorodu, Lagos. He said this problem is more spiritual than legal, so it needs a complete and mixed approach.
He wrote, “I think our community leaders and traditional institutions should get involved and take a bold step to tackle this problem.
“We used this same approach to fight Badoo rituals in Ikorodu, Lagos. We can’t stop it if our local leaders are not interested or involved. It’s more about what people believe than just following the law or physical actions.
“The police and law enforcement in these areas need to include the community leaders and traditional institutions in the effort to stop these ritual killings.”
