Artists need to be more intentional about collaborations in 2025, otherwise… – VJ Adams

Must Read

Adams Ibrahim, better known as VJ Adams, is a man of many facets. Formerly a Video Jockey, he has successfully switched careers between hosting music shows on television, killing the red carpet, interviewing celebrities, or hosting events. Recently, he began producing content for television and film promotion. In this interview with ROTIMI IGE, he talks about his efforts in 2024 and his plans for 2025.

In 2024 we saw his show 'KnowYourmusic' on MTV base and 'OffTheTop on BET. Can you elaborate on those programs and the ideas?

I was lucky enough to get a partnership deal with Paramount where I can executive produce the shows I create and they provide me with distribution. It's a great feeling to finally own my intellectual properties on television.

What was the most important lesson you could learn in 2024?

What 2024 taught me is that dreams are valid. Make sure you give a lot of value to your time.

Bimbo Ademoye gave you credit and recognition on their social media pages for designing the launch campaign for their six films released in 2024. What was it like working on all those projects?

I can't take all the credit. I have to take this opportunity to thank the actors too for accepting my crazy ideas to promote the films. I start thinking about release plans before I start filming. Some days I go to set just to feel the energy and sometimes develop promotional ideas further and I thank God that people love PR campaigns. When that translates to over 40 million views and counting for the movies, I feel very happy.

Continuing with your creative side, we remember that your first step into fashion was in 2015 with Embruto by VJ Adams, but in 2024 we saw something bigger with VIF by VJ Adams. How far are you willing to go on this fashion journey?

You see, fashion is one of the things I have created that will outlive me. Even when I'm gone, I can leave the entire estate to my family, so it's definitely one of the most important things I've created so far.

February 8, 2025 marks 10 years since the release of your Fuji smash hit 'Gbemisoke' featuring Pasuma and Reminisce, but it seems like you've put music on the back burner since your 2018 album. Any plans for music? in 2025?

To be honest, I received several messages asking me why I stopped making music. I stopped enjoying creating music when it became just a numbers game. Don't get me wrong, numbers are very important in data. Spreads and numbers help analyze the market. However, when it becomes the only factor in deciding what a good song is, it stops being art. That's commerce if you ask me. I'll be back in the studio as we're making more movies this year, so I'll be creating the soundtracks like I've done for some of the movies in the past.

What are your predictions for 2025?

I think 2025 is a year of collaboration. If you've built a sustainable career where you have nothing left to prove, collaboration is important to expand your ideas and reach a broader audience.

How would you describe your ability as a multi-talented personality?

A blessing and a curse if you ask me. In 2025, my DJ and acting parts are top priorities. I have been blessed with a lot of talent and all I am really trying to do is show anyone who comes after me that it is possible to realize your potential by living multiple dreams and legitimately winning in life.

From an investment standpoint, what are some of the other areas you're willing to invest in?

A few short-term rental apartments would be great, and a games room too. I kind of miss having a game center. I've invested a lot in esports and gaming over the years, filling 4,000-capacity venues multiple times and giving players something exciting to look forward to, so having my own gaming room would be nice.
