Appeal to Nigerians to Assist Cancer Patients in Underserved Communities

Must Read

The President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Maitama, Rtn. Rosemond Favour Uche, has asked Nigerians to support women with breast cancer who live in poor areas.

She said that finding out if someone has this disease and taking care of it can be very expensive. This is hard for women who don’t have much money. These women might be the ones who take care of their families.

Uche talked about this at a special event to help breast cancer patients in Guidna Village, a small town near Abuja.

She said everyone in Nigeria should help groups and people who are serious about fighting breast cancer.

Uche said, “Surgery costs a lot, and chemotherapy is also very tough. We hope that what we do can help these women to keep fighting cancer.”

“Today, we promise to keep helping these women as they go through their treatment.”

“We want to let people know that cancer care is still needed in places that don’t get much help.”

She explained why they chose to help a village with cancer screening and surgery.

Uche added, “We are here because we are working with Silver Cross Hospital. They offer free breast cancer surgeries. This matches well with Rotary’s mission to help people who need it the most.”

“The hospital’s leader works hard to make sure people in poor areas can get free surgery. This has made a big difference.”

“If he only worked in rich places like Asokoro or Maitama, he wouldn’t reach the people who really need free surgery. His kind heart brought him here to set up Silver Cross Hospital and help the local people,” she added.

A past President of the club, Rtn. Yusuf Alli said, “Cancer is one of the hardest diseases in the world.”

“Helping people in this small village shows real love for others and for God. We need to tell more people about this amazing doctor who helps cancer patients.”

The hospital’s leader, Patric Ezie, thanked the Rotary Club for their help. He asked the government and kind Nigerians to follow Rotary’s example and help poor cancer patients.

He said, “Rotarians are good people who love to help those in need. I contacted them and told them that our hospital is already doing this work. Any help we can give to these women would be wonderful.”

“Treating this illness costs a lot of money. We are doing our best to make sure these women get surgery and continue with their chemotherapy and good food.”

“This is also a message to the government and kind Nigerians. It wouldn’t be hard for Federal hospitals to do free breast cancer surgeries for women. They can offer free chemotherapy, even for just 100 women,” he said.
