The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is not part of the ongoing leadership struggle in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as claimed by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, denied these claims in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He was responding to comments made by the governor.
Morka said that the PDP’s problems are their own making. He pointed out that the PDP has always had leadership issues, even before the APC was formed.
He explained that past PDP national chairmen like Barnabas Gemade, Audu Ogbeh, Vincent Ogbulafor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Bamanga Tukur, Ali Modu Sheriff, Ahmed Makarfi, Uche Secondus, and Iyorcha Ayu all faced leadership problems, showing the ongoing confusion within the PDP.
The APC spokesperson said that the latest crisis in the PDP is due to the party’s failure to follow its own rules on zoning and sharing power between the North and South regions.
He advised Governor Mohammed and other PDP leaders to look inward and find solutions instead of blaming the APC.
“The PDP chose to place both leadership positions in one region, making their crisis worse,” Morka said.
“Our great party, the APC, is very busy working hard for the Nigerian people and has no time to get involved in the PDP’s own troubles,” he added.
