The Congress of all progressives (APC) has criticized the presidential candidate of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections, Atiku Abubakar; His counterpart in the Labor Party, Peter Obi and the former governor of the state of Kaduna, Mallam Nasir-El-Rufai.
The APC statement was immediate of the accusation of the ruling party for the trio in his comments separated in the two -day conference on the strengthening of democracy in Nigeria held in Abuja.
Atiku had intentionally accused the ruling party of instigating crisis in opposition parties through the financial inductor of certain people.
The former governor of the state of Kaduna who declared that the APC has become a single -man show also claimed that internal dissension within the predominant parties was being instigated by the forces that he refused to mention.
LP's presidential candidate spoke in a similar line.
But the APC in a statement last night signed by his Secretary of National Advertising, lawyer Felix Morka, dismissed the accusation as unfounded.
Morka, who dismissed the 16 years of the former ruling party, the PDP as the worst in the history of the Nation said that the APC was committed to the holiness of the polls.
His statement is read in part: “The former vice president and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) in the presidential elections of 2023, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as a very broken record, has continued to point out the fingers to the congress of all the Progressive (APC (APC) for the rot of your group, and the spectacular dysfunction of opposition parties in general.
“At the National Conference on the Strengthening of Democracy in Nigeria held in Abuja on Monday, January 27, 2025, Atiku warned that the democracy of the nation was something in danger due to judicial participation in electoral matters. In addition, without a crushing of evidence, Atiku alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was paying certain opposition leaders to 50 million Naira who break the opposition parties in the country.

“It was in the ATIKU era as vice president, particularly in 2003 and 2007, that the PDP made the worst elections in our political history. Possibly we cannot forget how ATIKU's PDP strongly captured most southwest states and promised to remain in power for 60 years. It was in those same years that the former head of Atiku and then president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, chief Olusegun Obasanjo, infamously described the election as a “issue of doing or dying” in a desperate attempt to annexar lakes. If democracy was not derailed or in danger in those dangerous days, is it now that the elections are, however, more frees, more fair and more credible that Nigeria runs the risk of losing democracy?
“The judicial branch of the Government is a constitutional creation as the executive and legislative branches with its constitutionally defined powers to judge disputes between citizens and between citizens and the State. Atiku cannot desire or try to abolish the consecrated power of the courts to intervene in civil disputes, including electoral disputes, in cases where the authority of the court is validly invoked by a litigator.
“It is an irony that Atiku, which is the most prolific electoral litigator of Nigeria, would make such a ridiculous statement that judicial participation in electoral matters is a threat to democracy. His criticism of the courts and the electoral process sounds to Hollow given his long history of using the courts to promote his political agenda. It is time for a step back and allow the democratic process to develop without its interference.
“Nigeria's democracy is much stronger than Atiku's political ambitions. We deserve better than the little politics and alarmist rhetoric of a major statesman. As a veteran politician, one would expect that Atiku understands that although democracy can be about winning elections, it is, more importantly, respecting the will of the electorate and working towards the greater good of all. Atiku should focus on rebuilding his party and offering constructive solutions to Nigeria's challenges.
“Atiku's accusation that the APC administration was paying 50 million Naira to some opposition figures is simply false and ridiculous. Atiku knows that his political despair is responsible for the catastrophic disintegration of PDP. The rumors that sell and the accusations without foundation should be under any person in the position of a major statesman, a former vice president and a series contestant for the exalted office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The strange suggestion of opposition figures such as Atiku, Peter Obi and recently, the leaders harmed as Mallam Nasir el-Rufai that our great party can be complicit in the internal corrosion of the opposition parties is unfortunate, and only an incompetent alibi For your failures. to administer your own matters. They cannot govern their parties, but promote their ability to govern the most populous country in Africa.
“As demanding citizens, Nigerians know better than being distracted by the false alarm and hollow accusations of desperate politicians whose sole objective is to underpin their political relevance in the accumulation of general elections of 2027”.
