Anti-Government Protest: Pat Utomi Pledges N500 Billion Lawsuit Against Onanuga

Must Read

Professor Pat Utomi, who is a famous political economist, is not happy with President Bola Tinubu’s adviser, Bayo Onanuga. He says he will take Onanuga to court and ask for N500 billion because Onanuga said something bad about him.

Let’s remember that Onanuga wrote on his X account (kind of like a Facebook post) that Peter Obi, who wanted to be the president for the Labour Party, and his friends planned some big protests. These protests were supposed to happen all over the country in August.

Onanuga thinks Pat Utomi and some other friends of Peter Obi are the ones who planned these protests. People were protesting about problems like not having enough food, the money losing value, and the bad economy in Nigeria.

But Pat Utomi says this is not true. In a statement he wrote on Monday, he said he has been out of the country for a long time. He is a big member of the Labour Party and insists he did not help plan any protests.

Utomi told Onanuga to take back what he said or show some proof. He said, “If there’s no proof, then I will think Onanuga is trying to set me up for very serious false charges that could even put my life in danger. That’s why I might go to international courts, those outside of Nigeria, if he doesn’t explain himself properly.”

He added, “I will have to ask for N500 billion because what Onanuga said is fake news, it’s hate speech, and it’s like trying to cause trouble for me on purpose. If the courts in Nigeria can’t help me, I hope international courts and people around the world will stand with me.”
