Anambra: Security agents arrest two alleged kidnappers, recover weapons, live cartridges

The joint security agents in the Anambra state that work under the Ope operation Udo Achi have arrested three suspicious kidnapping, including two men and one woman.

A statement from the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, declared that the suspects were linked to the kidnapping of a victim for which N17 million was paid to ensure his release.

However, the statement clarified that, although two of the suspects were not directly involved in the kidnapping, one is a native doctor who allegedly strengthens criminals and stores their operational weapons, while it is said that the woman provides critical information to the gang.

The statement said: “Police agents attached to the fast response team/anti-Kidnapping unit on April 13, 2025 arrested a Celestine UN, Male, 52 and Jacinta Okolo Udenka, 45-year-old woman, both Oba residents, Idemili South Local Government.

“During a search at home, a pump action gun, seven single -barrel Danish guns and 28 live cartridges were recovered.

“Since then, agents have been investigating a kidnapping incident that occurred in NNewi in July 2024, where a rescue of seventeen million, five hundred thousand naira (N17,500,000) was collected before the victim was released from his captivity.

“The information also revealed that Celestine is supposedly a native doctor who provides criminal charms and keeps weapons for the gang. At the same time, Mrs. Jacinta receives information about her victims before executing her evil plans.”

The statement quoted the police commissioner, Ikioye Orutugu, by ensuring the public the determination of the command to continue the case to a logical conclusion until all suspects are arrested.

“This measure is critical for the ongoing efforts to avoid more criminal activities in the state,” he said.
