The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has reaffirmed his controversial plan for the future of the Gaza Strip, declaring that the enclave devastated by the war would be “delivered” to the United States by Israel at the end of the conflict.
His proposal, which includes resetting the Palestinians out of Gaza, has lit strong reactions of leaders throughout the Middle East and beyond.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, Trump had initially made the surprising statement that “the United States will take over the Gaza Strip.”

He also said: “They would actually have the opportunity to be happy, safe and free,” and added that the United States, in collaboration with international development teams, would create “one of the largest and most spectacular developments of its kind on earth. “
The proposal has already caused shares of the Israeli authorities. Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he had ordered the military to prepare for the “voluntary” outings of Gaza.
“I have instructed the FDI (military) to prepare a plan to allow the voluntary departure for Gaza residents,” he said, and pointed out that the Palestinians could move “to any country willing to accept them.”
Netanyahu, in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, praised the plan as “remarkable” and praised Trump as the “best friend” of Israel. He urged an additional discussion about the proposal, saying: “I think it should be really persecuted, examined, persecuted and done, because I think it will create a different future for everyone.”
