The president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, declared that the accusations of sexual harassment against him for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan only arose after his seat and committee were changed in the Senate.
Akpabio revealed this on Friday while talking at a ceremony to commemorate International Women's Day 2025 at the National Assembly in Abuja.
According to him, despite the statement of Senator Natasha that the alleged sexual harassment occurred on December 8, 2023, nobody, including her husband, knew until recently.
He pointed out that Natasha only brought the accusations to public care after her seat and committee were changed.
Akpabio, however, explained that changes in seat agreements and committee tasks are regular activities in the Nigerian Senate, and added that his fellow legislators could attest to it.
