AKPABIO appoints presidents of the Committee for Development Commissions in a minor reorganization

The former Governor of the State of Abia, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, was appointed Tuesday to head the Senate Committee on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).

A position similar to Senator Babanida Hussaini (APC, Jigawa North-West) was awarded, who now presides over the Senate Committee on the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC).

Another legislator, Senator Titus Zam (APC, Benue North-West), will head the Senate Committee on the Northern Center Development Commission (NCDC).

Senator Kenneth Eze (APC, Ebonyi-Central) will serve as Kalu deputy in the SEDC committee, while Senator Isa Jibrin (APC, Kogi-East) will be the deputy of Senator Zam in the NCDC committee.

The legislators were appointed to direct the committees by the president of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, during the plenary.

This development followed the signing of the bills established the respective commissions of President Bola Tinubu.

Senate committees have the task of supervising the activities of the commissions, including their budgets and projects.

Akpabio also restructured the leadership of some permanent committees, which resulted in Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi-Central) that now directs the Senate Committee on Ferma.

NOI, until the last reorganization, presided over the National Population and NIMC committee.

The Kogi-Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was transferred from the local content committee to preside over the diaspora and non-governmental organizations committee.

The Anambra-Central senator, Victor Umeh, who previously presided over the Diaspora/NGO Committee, was happened by Akpoti-Uduaghan, while Umeh assumed the position of NOI as president of the National Population/NIMC Committee.

Other changes include Senator Garba Maidoki, who replaces Senator Abdulrahman Suleiman Kawu as president of the Sports Development Committee, and Senator Joel Thomas, who is the new president of the local content committee.
