The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, said that after capturing Cross River State in 2019 and Edo State in 2024, the party’s next target was to capture Rivers State in 2027.
He stated this during the inauguration of the newly elected State Executive Committee of the Rivers State chapter of the APC on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
Leading the other 16 members of the APC national working committee to the inauguration, he charged the newly elected state executives of the party to ensure that in addition to upholding internal democracy, steps were taken to attract new members to the party.
Ganduje accused the new members of the Sec: “You must ensure that there is internal democracy. You need to make sure there are more participants in the party. Use your political prowess to ensure our party grows from strength to strength. It is your responsibility to ensure that there is peace and stability.
“You are from the South-South zone; You know that during the Buhari administration we were able to take one state, Cross River. We were able to cross from PDP to APC. And during the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, we were able to clearly win Edo State.
“Of six, we have recovered two. So since we started with that, Rivers State is our target. Rivers State, we are here to help you. Therefore, winning and taking Rivers State to APC is a task that must be done.”
