AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Ghana to Host Future Matches in Nigeria Following CAF Ban

Must Read

Ghana’s soccer team, the Black Stars, might play their next home games for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Nigeria, says Soccernet.

This is happening because the Confederation of African Football, also known as CAF, said no more to using the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

CAF explained they made this choice because the stadium has many problems. For example, the field is bumpy, it doesn’t drain water well, and the grass is not good.

So, Ghana has no approved stadium to use for their important AFCON qualifying games. The same issues are also present in other stadiums in Ghana like the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadium.

Now, CAF has told Ghana to find a new stadium to play their games in October.

One of the top choices is the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Nigeria, says Myjoyonline.

This stadium is in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state. It looks like the best choice for the Black Stars.

Other stadiums they are thinking about are the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Stade de la Paix in Côte d’Ivoire, the Japoma Stadium in Cameroon, and the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco.

Ghana will tell CAF their final choice soon.
